About Language Lab
The Language Lab at Government Autonomous College, Phulbani was established in the year 2014 as part of an initiative by the Department of Higher Education, Government of Odisha. In collaboration with IIT Kharagpur, the Lab was equipped with advanced facilities, and ISILS Courseware was installed. Since its inception, the Lab has been a vital resource for students, enabling them to practice speaking, listening, reading, and writing (LSRW) in English within an immersive environment. Utilizing computer-based resources, the Lab enhances students’ communication skills in both formal and informal contexts, familiarizing them with the practical applications of English language across various situations. Now Dr Ananya Parida, Asst. Prof. of English is in-charge of Language Lab.

Running Course
The course entitled “Basics of Communication in English” is currently offered to UG students for the academic session 2024-25 with intentions to extend enrolment of PG students into it from the next session. This course serves as a valuable resource for learners of English as a second language, encompassing lessons of theory and its applications. The initial classes concentrate on communication theory, while subsequent sessions engage students in group discussions, self-introductions, audio-visual analysis, and creative writing practices. The instructor designs lessons to meet individual needs, thereby enhancing students’ LSRW skills.
